NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every living cell, where it takes part in energy metabolism. Its levels in many tissues decline with age.1
People take NAD+ in several ways: as an IV infusion, as an injection, as a nasal spray, capsule or troche, or indirectly through oral precursors such as nicotinamide riboside, sold as supplements.

NAD+ levels in many tissues decline with age, according to a 2021 review.1
In a study of healthy middle-aged and older adults, oral supplementation with an NAD+ precursor (nicotinamide riboside) raised NAD+ levels in blood cells and was well tolerated.2
A small pilot study measured how a six-hour intravenous NAD+ infusion changed NAD+ and related metabolites in blood and urine.3
None of those studies tested the injectable a licensed pharmacy prepares for one patient, and none measured symptoms.
