The basics

Zepbound® vs Wegovy®: how they differ

Label facts only. The physician weighs them against your health.

Zepbound® contains tirzepatide, which acts on two hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1. Wegovy® contains semaglutide, which acts on GLP-1 alone.1,3

Both are FDA-approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or with overweight and at least one weight-related condition, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity.1,3

Neither is the same as a compounded version. Compounded GLP-1 medications are prepared by a pharmacy for one patient and are not FDA-approved; Atlas HRT explains that route on the medical weight loss page.

“I can’t tell what it will cost.”

Both charges are on this page: Lilly’s self-pay price for the medication and a $149 monthly care fee. The full amount is confirmed before you pay.

“Is it the real medication?”

Yes. Zepbound® is the FDA-approved brand, filled through Lilly’s self-pay program by a licensed pharmacy.

“My insurance won’t cover it.”

No insurance needed. You pay the manufacturer’s published self-pay price, and cards and HSA are accepted.

“I don’t want to be locked in.”

The $149 care fee is billed monthly on a recurring basis until canceled, and your wellness consultant explains how to cancel.

“I’m nervous about injections.”

Zepbound® is a once-weekly injection under the skin. The physician explains how to use it and what to report.

“Side effects worry me.”

Dose and side-effect reviews are part of the care fee, and the physician decides whether to continue, adjust, pause or stop.

The evidence

What the Zepbound® label says

From the FDA-approved Prescribing Information and its main trial. None of it is a promise about your outcome.

01

Zepbound® is approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or with overweight and at least one weight-related condition, with a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity.1

02

It is also approved for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity.1

03

Its main weight-management trial ran for 72 weeks in adults without type 2 diabetes and compared three doses with placebo.2

Trial figures are averages and do not predict any one person’s response. The physician explains what the label means for you.
